Jode recoils. “When did I start to annoy you enough for you to leave? Why are you even here?”

“I’m here because I had a meeting with Moss. A meeting that is now longer over so I will make my leave.”

Dao starts to walk away. Graceful as ever Jode thinks bitterly. Dao stops and turns back to Jode, always so bright even in a room sunken in darkness.

Dao this is filler gives a half-hearted sigh, voice coming out weary. “You could never annoy me Jode. I left…I left because you stopped caring about me.”

Dao turns back on their heels and walks out. The neon lights keep flashing, the party is still roaring…
